Why 2027 dates are still provisional
The fixed-date holidays — New Year, Labour Day (May 1), the King’s Birthday (first Monday of June), Merdeka Day (Aug 31), Malaysia Day (Sep 16) and Christmas — are certain. Chinese New Year is set by the Chinese lunar calendar (Feb 6–7, 2027). The Islamic holidays (Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Aidiladha, Awal Muharram, Maulidur Rasul) and the Hindu and Buddhist festivals (Deepavali, Wesak) are shown as astronomical estimates and may move by a day either way once confirmed by moon-sighting and the official gazette.
Remember that these are the federal (nationwide) holidays only. Each state and federal territory gazettes additional local holidays, which are usually published toward the end of the preceding year. We will update this page as the official 2027 dates are confirmed.
