Argentina Public Holidays 2027

Argentina has not yet issued the Decreto that fixes its 2027 holidays — the most recent is Decreto 164/2025 for 2026 — so the dates here are provisional. They are derived from Ley 24.445 (which lists the 16 national holidays) and the transfer rule in article 6 of Ley 27.399: a movable holiday on a Tuesday or Wednesday shifts back to the previous Monday, one on a Thursday or Friday shifts forward to the next Monday, and one on a Saturday or Sunday is left where it falls. As in 2027’s pattern, four anniversaries end up absorbed by a weekend. Once the annual Decreto is published (usually in the second half of 2026), the confirmed dates and any tourism non-laborable days will be updated here.

Why the 2027 calendar is provisional

Argentina’s fixed holidays come from Ley 24.445 and the transfer rule in Ley 27.399, but the definitive year-by-year list — including which extra days, if any, become non-mandatory tourism days — is published in a Decreto usually issued in the second half of the previous year. As of this page’s last update, no Decreto for 2027 exists; the most recent is Decreto 164/2025 (for 2026). Every 2027 date below is therefore derived from article 6 of Ley 27.399 and is marked provisional. Treat the confirmed list, any tourism bridges and any special decreed days (for example, a one-off holiday around mid-term elections, which Argentina holds in 2027) as pending until the government publishes them.

The feriados trasladables rule (Ley 27.399 art. 6)

Four patriotic anniversaries can move: Güemes (17 June), San Martín (17 August), Cultural Diversity (12 October) and National Sovereignty (20 November). Article 6 sends a Tuesday or Wednesday anniversary back to the previous Monday and a Thursday or Friday one forward to the next Monday, but a Saturday or Sunday anniversary is left in place. In 2027 that plays out clearly: 17 June is a Thursday, so Güemes lands on Monday 21 June; 17 August and 12 October are Tuesdays, so San Martín and Cultural Diversity shift back to Mondays 16 August and 11 October; and 20 November is a Saturday, so Sovereignty stays on the weekend and is lost.

The nine inamovibles never move whatever the weekday — and in 2027 four dates end up on a weekend, so the calendar "loses" more than it gains: Labour Day (Saturday 1 May), Flag Day (Sunday 20 June), Sovereignty (Saturday 20 November) and Christmas (Saturday 25 December). Fixed holidays on a Tuesday or Wednesday — the Day of Memory (24 March), May Revolution (25 May) and the Immaculate Conception (8 December) — stay mid-week and do not create a long weekend on their own.

Feriado nacional vs día no laborable

The 16 dates on this page are feriados nacionales — true public holidays where the country is treated as off and an employee who works is owed an enhanced (typically double) rate. A día no laborable is different: it is a non-mandatory, usually tourism-oriented day where the employer decides whether to operate, and worked hours are generally paid at the ordinary rate. Argentina adds a few of these each year by Decreto. Because they are not guaranteed off for 2027 — and have not been decreed at all yet — they are deliberately not listed here, and no tourism bridge day is shown.

Frequently asked questions

What are the official public holidays in Argentina in 2027?

Argentina has 16 official public holidays in 2027: New Year's Day (January 1, 2027), Carnival Monday (February 8, 2027), Carnival Tuesday (February 9, 2027), Day of Memory for Truth and Justice (March 24, 2027), Good Friday (March 26, 2027), Malvinas Veterans Day (April 2, 2027), Labour Day (May 1, 2027), May Revolution Day (May 25, 2027), National Flag Day (June 20, 2027), Güemes Day (June 21, 2027), Independence Day (July 9, 2027), San Martín Day (August 16, 2027), Day of Cultural Diversity (October 11, 2027), National Sovereignty Day (November 22, 2027), Immaculate Conception (December 8, 2027), Christmas Day (December 25, 2027).

Are the 2027 Argentina holidays official yet?

No — they are provisional. The nine fixed holidays are set by Ley 24.445 and never move, but the four movable anniversaries and any extra tourism days depend on an annual Decreto that Argentina has not issued for 2027 yet (the latest covers 2026). The dates here follow the Ley 27.399 article 6 transfer rule and will be confirmed once that Decreto is published.

When is Carnival and Easter in Argentina in 2027?

Easter Sunday 2027 falls on 28 March, so Carnival Monday and Tuesday are 8 and 9 February — a four-day break with the weekend. The nationally observed Easter holiday is Good Friday on 26 March. Because the fixed Day of Memory sits on Wednesday 24 March, one day of leave on Thursday 25 March stretches the run to five days.

How many long weekends does 2027 offer?

Eight long weekends of three days or more come from the feriados alone: New Year, Carnival (four days), Easter, Malvinas, the Güemes Monday, Independence, San Martín and Cultural Diversity. The catch is that four holidays are lost to a weekend in 2027, so the standout break — the five-day Memory-plus-Easter run — needs one day of annual leave.

Why is National Sovereignty Day on 20 November in 2027 and not a Monday?

Because 20 November 2027 falls on a Saturday. Article 6 of Ley 27.399 only transfers a movable holiday that lands on a weekday; on a Saturday or Sunday it is left exactly where it is and absorbed by the weekend, with no make-up day. So Sovereignty Day gives no extra break in 2027 — the opposite of 2025, when the same holiday on a Thursday moved to Monday 24 November.

Could Argentina add a special holiday for the 2027 mid-term elections?

It is possible — Argentina holds mid-term legislative elections in 2027, and election days are non-working for the purposes of voting — but any such day must be established by a specific decree and is separate from the 16 national holidays. No such decree has been published, so this page deliberately does not list any election date as a holiday. We will add it only when the government formally decrees it.
