Spain’s 2027 public holidays are confirmed by the Resolution of 8 October 2026 of the Directorate General of Labour, published in the BOE on 13 October 2026 (BOE-A-2026-21254). Ten dates are national under Royal Decree 2001/1983: New Year’s Day (Friday 1 January), Epiphany (Wednesday 6 January, which no region replaced), Good Friday (26 March), Labour Day (Saturday 1 May), the Assumption (Sunday 15 August), National Day (Tuesday 12 October), All Saints’ Day (Monday 1 November), Constitution Day (Monday 6 December), the Immaculate Conception (Wednesday 8 December) and Christmas Day (Saturday 25 December). Nine of them are a day off in every region; the Assumption falls on a Sunday and costs nobody a working day, although six regions give Monday 16 August off. Two bridges stand out: Monday 11 October turns the 12th into a four-day break, and Tuesday 7 December joins Constitution Day to the Immaculate Conception for a five-day break from Saturday 4 to Wednesday 8 December.

Spain’s 2027 labour calendar is set by the Resolution of 8 October 2026 of the Directorate General of Labour, published in BOE number 254 on 13 October 2026. It gathers the calendars sent by the 17 autonomous communities and by the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, and marks every date as applying everywhere, as a national holiday that a region kept although it could have replaced it, or as a regional holiday. Each municipality adds up to two local holidays, which appear in regional or provincial bulletins rather than in this resolution.
How the 2027 calendar differs by region
Holy Thursday (25 March) is a holiday in 17 of the 19 regions and autonomous cities — all except Catalonia and the Valencian Community — so most of Spain has a four-day Easter break from Thursday to Sunday. Easter Monday (29 March) is a holiday in the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Navarre, the Basque Country, La Rioja and the Valencian Community; in the first four it follows Holy Thursday, which makes five days off from Thursday to Monday. Saint Joseph’s Day (Friday 19 March) is a holiday in Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarre and the Valencian Community.
Sunday 15 August is where the regions differ most. Royal Decree 2001/1983 lets each community replace the Monday rest after a Sunday national holiday with another traditional holiday of its own. In 2027 Andalucía, Aragón, Asturias, the Canary Islands, Castilla y León and Madrid give Monday 16 August off; Extremadura gives Monday 11 October instead, which makes its 12 October break four days without using leave; the other twelve regions and autonomous cities have no holiday on 16 August.
Strategic bridge planning (Puentes) for 2027
Two bridges stand out in 2027. National Day (Tuesday 12 October) becomes a four-day break from Saturday 9 to Tuesday 12 October if you take Monday 11 October. In December, Constitution Day (Monday 6) and the Immaculate Conception (Wednesday 8) leave a single working day between them: taking Tuesday 7 December gives five days off from Saturday 4 to Wednesday 8. New Year’s Day, All Saints’ Day and Constitution Day also make three-day weekends without using any leave, and Good Friday starts a weekend that runs from Thursday in most regions.
