What is a "Shared Working Day"?
A shared working day is a calendar date that is a regular business day in ALL selected countries. A date is excluded if it is a statutory public holiday or a regular weekend day in any of the chosen jurisdictions (unless offset by an official make-up workday).
How do make-up workdays (e.g. China and Taiwan) affect the calculation?
In mainland China and Taiwan, the government officially decrees weekend days as make-up workdays to create extended holiday Golden Weeks. If the other country in your comparison also works on weekends or schedules a matching work cycle, it can count as an active business day. On ordinary Saturdays, however, the other country is off, so it becomes a one-sided working day.
Does this calculator handle non-standard weekends like Saudi Arabia?
Yes. Saudi Arabia observes Friday and Saturday as the official weekend, whereas most other tracked countries observe Saturday and Sunday. On Fridays, Saudi Arabia is closed while western markets work; on Sundays, western markets are closed while Saudi Arabia is open. The calculator evaluates each country against its genuine local weekend rules.
