Colombia Public Holidays 2027
2027 is a good year and a bad year at the same time. Ley 51 de 1983 delivers nineteen national festivos and eleven of them come as Monday breaks, giving thirteen separate three-day-or-longer weekends — but three immovable dates land on Saturdays: Labour Day (1 May), the Battle of Boyacá (7 August) and Christmas Day (25 December). Colombia has no substitute-day rule, so those three are simply gone for a Monday-to-Friday workforce. Easter arrives early (28 March), which pulls Ascension, Corpus Christi and the Sacred Heart forward into May and June and leaves the whole first half of the year unusually dense.

Three immovable dates on Saturdays: what 2027 costs a worker
Ley 51 moves ten festivals (eleven since Chiquinquirá) onto Mondays, but eight dates are fixed absolutely: 1 January, 1 May, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, 20 July, 7 August, 8 December and 25 December. When a fixed date falls on a weekend Colombia gives nothing back — no Monday substitute, no moved red day as in Sweden or Finland. In 2027 that hits three times: Labour Day on Saturday 1 May, the Battle of Boyacá on Saturday 7 August and Christmas Day itself on Saturday 25 December. Nineteen festivos therefore become sixteen usable weekday days off.
The same statute reads differently every year, which is why a Colombia calendar page has to be per-year. Compare: 2026 loses nothing at all, 2027 loses three dates, and 2025 lost one and then had two festivals stack on top of each other on 30 June. Nothing about the law changed — only the weekday that Easter and the fixed dates happen to fall on.
An early Easter packs the first half of 2027
Easter Sunday 2027 is 28 March, four days earlier than 2026 and nineteen earlier than 2028, and because three movable Colombian feasts are counted from it, they arrive early too: Ascension is enjoyed 10 May, Corpus Christi 31 May, Sacred Heart 7 June. Add Saints Peter and Paul (5 July) and Chiquinquirá (12 July) and the period from early May to mid-July carries seven Monday breaks on its own — the densest stretch of the year and the window when internal flights out of El Dorado are most expensive.
Because Easter-linked feasts are computed, not gazetted, no annual Colombian government notice is needed to publish this list — the dates follow from the computus plus Ley 51. That is also why this page is marked confirmed rather than provisional, and why the ICS, CSV and PDF exports below are safe to import today.
