Malaysia Long Weekends 2027
On the provisional federal calendar, 2027 gives Malaysia eight long weekends — two more than 2026. Seven are 3-day breaks (New Year, Chinese New Year, Labour Day, Hari Raya Aidiladha, Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday, Deepavali, Christmas) and one is a 4-day run: Awal Muharram on Sunday June 6 flows into the King’s Birthday on Monday June 7, pushing the replacement to Tuesday June 8. The official gazette from the Prime Minister’s Department lands in late 2026; Islamic dates remain subject to moon-sighting.

Bridge Days Planner 2027: Turn Leave into Long Breaks
Smart annual leave strategies to turn mid-week holidays into 4- to 5-day continuous breaks.
Hari Raya Aidilfitri
Take annual leave on Friday to bridge Hari Raya Aidilfitri into the weekend.
Wesak Day
Take annual leave on Friday to bridge Wesak Day into the weekend.
National Day (Hari Merdeka)
Take annual leave on Monday to bridge the weekend into National Day (Hari Merdeka).
Malaysia Day
Take annual leave on Friday to bridge Malaysia Day into the weekend.
The May cluster: three breaks in three weeks
May 2027 is the month to spend annual leave. Labour Day (Sat May 1, replacement Mon May 3) opens a 3-day weekend; Hari Raya Aidiladha (Mon May 17) delivers another; and Wesak Day lands on Thursday May 20. Take just three leave days (May 18–19 and 21) and the Aidiladha weekend runs straight through Wesak into the next weekend — nine days off, May 15–23.
Two caveats before you book. First, these are provisional dates: the JPM federal gazette (expected late 2026, the 2026 list came in October 2025) is the official source, and the Islamic dates — Aidilfitri (Wed–Thu Mar 10–11, mid-week so no long weekend), Aidiladha, Awal Muharram, Maulidur Rasul — can shift a day on moon-sighting. Second, your state matters: New Year’s Day is not observed in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Perlis or Terengganu, Deepavali is not observed in Sarawak, and the Fri–Sat weekend states see different replacement patterns.

Frequently asked questions
How many long weekends does Malaysia have in 2027?
Eight on the provisional federal calendar: New Year (Jan 1–3), Chinese New Year (Feb 6–8), Labour Day (May 1–3), Hari Raya Aidiladha (May 15–17), Awal Muharram + the King’s Birthday (Jun 5–8, 4 days), Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday (Aug 14–16), Deepavali (Oct 29–31) and Christmas (Dec 25–27).
What is the longest break in Malaysia in 2027?
The 4-day Awal Muharram + King’s Birthday run, Saturday June 5 to Tuesday June 8: weekend, Awal Muharram on Sunday June 6, the King’s Birthday on Monday June 7, and Awal Muharram’s replacement on Tuesday June 8 — the same double-replacement pattern that made 2026’s Wesak + King’s Birthday break.
Are the Malaysia 2027 long weekend dates confirmed?
Not yet. The Prime Minister’s Department gazettes the federal list in late 2026 (the 2026 gazette came in October 2025). Fixed-date and Chinese New Year breaks are reliable; the Islamic holidays and Deepavali are astronomical estimates that can shift a day. We update this page within 24–48 hours of the gazette.
How can I stretch the 2027 long weekends with annual leave?
The May cluster is the best value: take May 18–19 and 21 (3 leave days) to bridge Hari Raya Aidiladha into Wesak Day for nine days off (May 15–23). Elsewhere, one Friday leave day after the Chinese New Year replacement (Feb 9–12 needs 4) is poor value — prefer bridging Merdeka (Tue Aug 31) with Monday Aug 30 for a 4-day break.
Is Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027 a long weekend in Malaysia?
No — Aidilfitri falls mid-week on Wednesday–Thursday March 10–11, 2027 (subject to moon-sighting). Take Friday March 12 as a single leave day and it becomes a 5-day run through the weekend (Mar 10–14); add Mon–Tue Mar 8–9 for nine days.
Where can I download the Malaysia 2027 holiday calendar?
Our Malaysia 2027 public holidays page and the holiday calendar downloads hub offer ICS, CSV and printable PDF files with the provisional dates; we refresh them when the official 2027 gazette is published.
