Are the 2027 Holidays Out Yet?

Partially. Of the 37 countries and regions we track, 22 already carry official 2027 dates — the countries whose calendars are set by statute rather than by an annual decree (Japan, Germany, Ireland, Austria, Sweden, Brazil and South Africa under Public Holidays Act 36 of 1994, among others), plus Singapore (gazetted June 2026), India (DoPT circular, July 2026) and Taiwan and Hong Kong (May 2026). Still pending in our data: Argentina, Belgium, China, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Macau, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Thailand, Vietnam and United Arab Emirates — for most of them the gazette notice lands late in the year, and the Islamic-calendar entries stay provisional until the relevant authority confirms the new moon.

The State Council General Office circular that sets the exact days off and make-up workdays traditionally comes in November of the preceding year — the 2026 arrangement was published in November 2025, so expect the 2027 circular around November 2026. The festival dates themselves (Spring Festival Feb 6, National Day Oct 1) are already known.

Malacañang usually signs the annual holiday proclamation in the second half of the preceding year — Proclamation No. 1006 covering 2026 was signed on 3 September 2025. Expect the 2027 proclamation around September–October 2026, with the Eid dates declared separately later.

Because their calendars are decided year by year, not fixed by statute. China and Vietnam design bridged mega-breaks (and make-up workdays) annually; Thailand's Cabinet adds discretionary bridge days; the Philippines classifies each day as regular or special by proclamation. Countries whose holidays are set in law — Japan, the US, Canada, New Zealand — are effectively known years ahead.

Provisional pages show our best projection before the official announcement: fixed-date holidays are certain, lunar and movable festivals are computed from astronomical calendars, and bridge days or make-up workdays are estimated from each government's usual pattern. Once the official list is gazetted we update the page within 24–48 hours and mark it as officially confirmed, with the government source linked.
