The Czech list never changes — Act No. 245/2000 Sb. fixes thirteen days off for every year, including 2027 — but 2027 is the harshest of the four years around it. Four of the thirteen land on a Saturday or Sunday and, since Czech law knows no substitute day, they add nothing: Labour Day (Saturday May 1), Victory Day (Saturday May 8), Christmas Day (Saturday December 25) and the Second Day of Christmas (Sunday December 26). Nine days behave like real time off, Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day on Wednesday 17 November among them. Gregorian Easter is March 28, so Good Friday March 26 and Easter Monday March 29 still give the year’s best automatic four-day break.

2027 is Czechia’s lean year — here is the arithmetic
Thirteen statutory days off, four of them on a Saturday or Sunday, and no substitute-day rule anywhere in Act No. 245/2000 Sb. or the Labour Code: that is 2027 in one sentence. The casualties are Labour Day (Saturday May 1), Victory Day (Saturday May 8), Christmas Day (Saturday December 25) and the Second Day of Christmas (Sunday December 26). Nine holidays still fall on a weekday — the November one, Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day on Wednesday 17 November, is safely among them — and the leanest stretch is May, which delivers nothing at all to a Monday-to-Friday worker.
Because the fixed eleven dates never move, this is not bad luck — it is arithmetic. Labour Day and Victory Day are locked to May 1 and May 8; in 2027 those happen to be Saturdays, and they will not be in 2028 (both fall on a Monday). The same holds for the July pair and for Christmas. So a Czech calendar can be published years ahead without a provisional flag, and that is exactly what this page does for 2025 through 2028.
State holidays, other holidays, and days that are explicitly not holidays
The Act splits its thirteen days into two tiers that are legally identical in practice: seven state holidays in §1 (1 January, 8 May, 5 July, 6 July, 28 September, 28 October, 17 November) and seven other holidays in §2 (1 January again, Good Friday, Easter Monday, 1 May and December 24, 25, 26). §3 then makes all of them days of rest. The hierarchy matters only for ceremony: state holidays are the ones the flags fly for.
A third tier is what trips visitors up. §4 lists significant days (významné dny) such as 16 January (Jan Palach), 27 January (Holocaust victims), 8 March, 12 March (NATO accession) and 11 November (war veterans) — and states that they are working days. Nothing closes. Because so many holiday databases blur that line, this page leaves those dates out of the table, the calendar grid and every download, so an ICS file imported into your calendar holds only the thirteen days the law actually rests.
