Argentina has not yet published a Decreto for 2028, so these dates are provisional — derived from Ley 24.445 (the 16 national holidays) and the transfer rule in article 6 of Ley 27.399: a movable holiday on a Tuesday or Wednesday shifts back to the previous Monday, one on a Thursday or Friday shifts forward to the next Monday, and one on a Saturday or Sunday stays put and is absorbed by the weekend. 2028 is a leap year, so Carnival Tuesday falls on 29 February and the year is unusually back-loaded: the movable San Martín and Cultural Diversity anniversaries both shift forward to Mondays, giving a strong August–October run of long weekends. Once the annual Decreto is issued, the confirmed dates and any tourism non-laborable days will be reflected here.

Why the 2028 calendar is provisional
Argentina’s fixed holidays come from Ley 24.445 and the transfer rule in Ley 27.399, but the definitive year-by-year list — including any extra tourism days — is published in a Decreto usually issued in the second half of the previous year. As of this page’s last update there is no Decreto for 2028; the most recent is Decreto 164/2025 (for 2026). Every 2028 date below is therefore derived from article 6 of Ley 27.399 and is marked provisional. One quirk of the leap year: Carnival Tuesday lands on 29 February 2028, and Easter on 16 April pushes the movable Carnival dates unusually late in February.
The feriados trasladables rule (Ley 27.399 art. 6)
Four patriotic anniversaries can move: Güemes (17 June), San Martín (17 August), Cultural Diversity (12 October) and National Sovereignty (20 November). Article 6 sends a Tuesday or Wednesday anniversary back to the previous Monday and a Thursday or Friday one forward to the next Monday, but a Saturday or Sunday anniversary is left in place. 2028 exercises three of these branches: 17 June is a Saturday, so Güemes is lost to the weekend; 17 August and 12 October are both Thursdays, so San Martín and Cultural Diversity shift forward to Mondays 21 August and 16 October; and 20 November is already a Monday, so Sovereignty needs no move.
The nine inamovibles never move whatever the weekday, and in 2028 four of them fall on a weekend — New Year (Saturday 1 January), Malvinas (Sunday 2 April), Independence (Sunday 9 July) and, among the movable group, Güemes (Saturday 17 June). The year is therefore front-light and back-heavy: after a lean winter, the shift-forward Mondays of San Martín, Cultural Diversity and the already-Monday Sovereignty Day stack three long weekends into the second half.
Feriado nacional vs día no laborable
The 16 dates on this page are feriados nacionales — true public holidays where the country is treated as off and an employee who works is owed an enhanced (typically double) rate. A día no laborable is different: it is a non-mandatory, usually tourism-oriented day where the employer decides whether to operate, and worked hours are generally paid at the ordinary rate. Argentina adds a few of these each year by Decreto. Because none has been decreed for 2028 yet, no tourism non-laborable day is listed here; the calendar shows only guaranteed feriados nacionales.
