Regular holidays vs special (non-working) days
The Philippines splits its public holidays into two classes. Regular holidays (12 in 2025) carry full holiday pay even if you do not work — and double pay if you do. Special (non-working) days (9 in 2025) follow a "no work, no pay" rule by default, with a 30% premium for work performed.
