Indonesia Public Holidays 2025

Indonesia had 28 scheduled days off in 2025 — 17 national holidays plus 11 cuti bersama days (10 in the original SKB decree, plus Aug 18 added by amendment). The standout was the 11-day Nyepi–Lebaran mega break from March 28 to April 7, when four collective leave days bridged the two festivals across two weekends.

The year of the 11-day break — and a mid-year surprise

In 2025 the SKB decree (No. 1017/2/2 of 2024, signed 14 October 2024) deliberately stacked four Idul Fitri cuti bersama days around the Nyepi weekend, producing an 11-day national shutdown from March 28 to April 7 — one of the longest scheduled breaks anywhere in Asia that year.

A rare mid-year change followed: after the 80th Independence anniversary celebrations, the government issued an amending SKB (No. 933/1/3, 7 August 2025) declaring Monday 18 August an extra cuti bersama — a reminder that Indonesia's holiday calendar can gain days even after the year starts.

Nyepi in Bali: the island that truly stops

Nyepi (Sat, March 29, 2025) is listed in the SKB decree as a national holiday, but it is Bali where the holiday has real teeth. From 6am for 24 hours the entire island shuts down: Ngurah Rai Airport closes, no vehicles move, lights stay low, and everyone — tourists included — must stay indoors. The night before, ogoh-ogoh monster parades fill the streets in the island's most photogenic ritual.

Flying in or out around March 28–29? Arrivals are allowed on Nyepi morning but departures resume only after 6am the next day — flights in the window were suspended in 2025. Because 2025's 11-day break (Mar 28 – Apr 7) brackets the holiday, Bali accommodation books out fast; reserve early and plan a hotel day.

Frequently asked questions

How many public holidays did Indonesia have in 2025?+

28 scheduled days off: 17 national holidays plus 11 cuti bersama days — 10 in the original SKB decree of October 2024, plus Monday 18 August added by amendment after the 80th Independence anniversary.

How long was the Lebaran break in Indonesia in 2025?+

Eleven consecutive days, March 28 to April 7 — the Nyepi holiday (Sat Mar 29), Idul Fitri (Mon–Tue Mar 31–Apr 1), five cuti bersama days and two weekends all chained together.

Why was August 18, 2025 a day off in Indonesia?+

Independence Day (Aug 17) fell on a Sunday, and on presidential instruction the government issued an amending SKB on 7 August 2025 declaring the Monday an additional cuti bersama — effectively a substitute day, even though Indonesia has no formal substitution rule.

Yes — 2025 was the first year Easter Sunday (Kebangkitan Yesus Kristus, Apr 20) appeared on the national holiday list, alongside the long-standing Good Friday holiday.

Where can I download the Indonesia 2025 holiday calendar?+

Our Indonesia 2025 page and the holiday calendar downloads hub offer ICS and CSV files based on the SKB decree, with national holidays and cuti bersama marked separately.
