Why our count differs: make-up workdays
China runs a make-up workday system, but the official 2027 arrangement has not been published yet. The 256 figure above reflects only the dates confirmed so far — it includes neither make-up workdays nor the extended breaks that are still pending. Recent years have had 5–7 make-up days; the number will change once the government notice lands and we update this page.

How we count
We walk the calendar day by day from 1 January to 31 December. A Monday-to-Friday date that is not on the official holiday list counts as a working day; multi-day breaks are expanded from their start to their end date. Weekends are non-working by default, except for weekend dates the government has designated as make-up workdays, which are counted back in. Every date is handled in UTC, so the result never shifts with the reader’s timezone.
Only nationwide statutory holidays for China are counted. Annual leave, sick leave, company shutdown days and holidays observed in one region only are not included, so banks, government offices and individual employers may work a slightly different calendar.
Frequently asked questions
How many working days are there in China in 2027?+
China has 256 working days in 2027: 365 calendar days minus 104 weekend days and 5 public holiday days that fall on a weekday. That is about 2048 hours on a standard 8-hour day.
How many non-working days does China have in 2027?+
109 days: 104 weekend days plus 5 weekday public holidays. A further 2 holiday days already fall on a weekend, so they add no extra time off.
Why does your number differ from other working-day calculators?+
China runs a make-up workday system, but the official 2027 arrangement is not out yet, so today's figure covers only the confirmed dates. Once the government notice is published, both the extended breaks and the make-up workdays will be counted and the number will change. Generic calculators simply assume weekends are off, flag none of this and never revisit it.
Which month has the most and fewest working days in China in 2027?+
March has the most with 23 working days, and October the fewest with 20. The table below breaks all twelve months down into working days, weekend days and holidays.
Does this include annual leave or company holidays?+
No. Only nationwide statutory holidays for China are counted. Annual leave, sick leave, employer shutdown days and region-specific holidays are excluded, so your own workplace calendar may differ by a few days.
Are the 2027 figures final?+
Not yet. The official 2027 China arrangement is still incomplete, so the count is based on confirmed dates plus the government’s usual pattern (last updated 2026-07-09). We refresh the number as soon as the announcement lands.
