Taiwan Long Weekends 2026

Taiwan packs nine long weekends into 2026, per the DGPA government office calendar — and none of them costs a make-up Saturday. The headline break is the 9-day Lunar New Year (Feb 14–22). Two 4-day breaks follow: Children’s Day & Tomb-Sweeping Day in April and the Mid-Autumn & Teachers’ Day bridge in September. Six more holidays land on or shift to a Friday or Monday for 3-day weekends.

Nine breaks, zero make-up workdays

Unlike mainland China, Taiwan abolished make-up Saturdays from 2025. When a holiday falls on a Saturday it is observed the preceding Friday (Peace Memorial Day, National Day, Children’s Day), and a Sunday holiday moves to the following Monday (Tomb-Sweeping Day, Retrocession Day). Every long weekend below is “free” — no borrowed weekend to pay back.

Domestic high-speed rail and flights to the outlying islands sell out fastest around Lunar New Year (Feb 14–22) and the two 4-day breaks (Apr 3–6, Sep 25–28). Book those windows first if you are planning trips.
