How in-lieu Mondays work in 2026
When a public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday becomes a public holiday. In 2026 that adds Monday 1 June (after Vesak Day on 31 May), Monday 10 August (after National Day on 9 August) and Monday 9 November (after Deepavali on 8 November).
Combine those with Good Friday (3 Apr), Labour Day (1 May) and Christmas (25 Dec) all on a Friday, and you get six natural long weekends — one more than a typical year.
