Proclamation No. 1006 deliberately places several 2026 holidays on Fridays and Mondays, producing eight long weekends that need no annual leave: two 4-day breaks (Holy Week in April, Christmas in December) and six 3-day weekends. Eid'l Fitr on Friday March 20, proclaimed separately once the lunar date is confirmed, makes nine. Watch the classification, though — some of these days are special (non-working) days where "no work, no pay" applies by default.

Regular holiday or special day? It changes your pay
Three of the nine long weekends lean on special (non-working) days: Ninoy Aquino Day (Aug 21), the Undas pair (Nov 1–2) and Christmas Eve (Dec 24). On those days the default is "no work, no pay" — you get the day off, but daily-paid workers are not paid unless company policy says otherwise, and working earns a 30% premium. Regular holidays (Good Friday, Labor Day, Independence Day, National Heroes Day, Bonifacio Day, Christmas Day) are paid even if unworked, and pay double if you work.
The Eid'l Fitr and Eid'l Adha dates (expected around Mar 20 and May 27) are proclaimed separately once the lunar dates are confirmed. The table below counts Eid'l Fitr on Friday Mar 20 as the ninth long weekend, but the official proclamation can still move it by a day, and Eid'l Adha on a Wednesday produces nothing either way.
