Thailand’s 2026 calendar delivers eight breaks of three days or more: the 5-day Songkran run (Apr 11–15), a 4-day New Year (Jan 1–4, thanks to the Cabinet’s special Jan 2 holiday) and six 3-day blocks — Chakri Memorial Day, Coronation Day, Visakha Bucha, three stacked royal and Buddhist days on Jul 28–30, Chulalongkorn Memorial Day and the Dec 5 national day. Two of them exist only because Thailand’s in-lieu rule moves weekend holidays to the next working day, and the July block runs Tuesday to Thursday, so it is three solid days off rather than a long weekend.

Watch for extra Cabinet holidays during the year
Thailand is unusual in that the Cabinet regularly declares extra special holidays after the year has started — usually to bridge an existing holiday into a longer break and stimulate domestic tourism. The Jan 2, 2026 holiday that stretches New Year to four days was exactly that. If a 2026 holiday sits one day away from a weekend, there is a real chance a bridge day gets added later; check back or subscribe to our calendar feed.
Also note the two calendars problem: government offices follow the Cabinet list, but banks follow the Bank of Thailand’s separate financial-institution holiday list, which skips some royal or Buddhist days. The Buddhist lunar holidays (Makha, Visakha, Asarnha Bucha) also shift each year, so 2027’s long-weekend map will look different — the official 2027 list is expected in Q4 2026.
