Chuseok 2027
Chuseok (추석), the Korean autumn harvest festival, falls on Wednesday 15 September 2027. The three-day public holiday runs Tuesday 14 September through Thursday 16 September. None of the three days overlaps a Sunday, so no substitute holiday is added — but taking Monday 13 September off turns the prior weekend into a six-day break (11–16 Sep), and adding Friday 17 September stretches it to nine days.

What happens during Chuseok
Families gather for charye ancestral rites, visit ancestral graves (seongmyo) and share songpyeon rice cakes. Like Seollal, it triggers one of the year’s biggest travel rushes — expressways, KTX trains and flights are packed on the days either side of the holiday, and many businesses in Seoul close or shorten hours.
